Object Permanence Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: July 2026
1. OVERVIEW
These Terms & Conditions govern the purchase of vinyl record manufacturing services from Object Permanence Records LLC ("Object Permanence," "we," "us," or "our").
By placing an order, you ("Client") agree to these Terms & Conditions.
2. ORDER INITIATION & CLIENT RESPONSIVENESS
We strongly recommend submitting final audio and artwork together at the beginning of your project.
Production does not begin until all required materials have been received, approved, and payment has been completed. Required items include:
Final audio files
Final artwork files
Completed project form
Signed Terms & Conditions and Copyright Agreement
Full payment
Production timelines begin only after all required materials have been submitted and approved.
Throughout the project, timely responses to approvals, questions, and requested revisions are required. Delays in client communication will extend the production timeline.
3. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES
The Client is responsible for providing:
Final audio files in the required format
Final artwork files that meet our published specifications
Accurate project information, including track titles, sequencing, Side A / Side B designation, playback speed, and any special production instructions
Clients are responsible for carefully reviewing all submitted materials and approvals.
Object Permanence is not responsible for production errors resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the Client.
4. PRODUCTION PROCESS
Projects generally move through the following stages:
Audio Preparation & Vinyl Mastering → Client Audio Approval → Lacquer Cutting → Plating → (Optional Test Pressing) → Production Pressing → Packaging → Shipping
Clients review and approve their mastered audio before lacquer cutting begins. This approval stage is the primary opportunity to identify and correct audio issues prior to manufacturing.
5. PRODUCTION TIMELINES
Most standard projects are completed within 6–8 weeks after all required materials, approvals, and payment have been received. Production timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
Estimated production timelines will be communicated when a project enters production and are estimates only. They are not guaranteed.
Production schedules may be affected by:
Client responsiveness
Material availability
Production volume
Specialty vinyl selections
Custom packaging
Fulfillment requirements
Manufacturing or equipment variables
6. TEST PRESSINGS (OPTIONAL)
Test pressings are an important quality control step in the vinyl manufacturing process.
For orders of 100–499 units, test pressings are optional.
For orders of 500 units or more, five (5) test pressings are included and will be produced unless the Client elects to waive them prior to production.
Current Pricing
100–299 units: $150 (includes 5 test pressings)
300–499 units: $100 (includes 5 test pressings)
500+ units: Included (5 test pressings)
Test pressings:
Are manufactured using black or mixed vinyl
Use Object Permanence branded center labels
Do not include final printed packaging or custom center labels
The purpose of a test pressing is to verify the manufacturing process and identify any pressing-related anomalies before full production.
Clients should also verify:
Track order
Side sequencing
Playback quality
Beginning and end of each side
Audio is reviewed and approved digitally before lacquer cutting. If the approved digital master meets the Client's expectations, the finished record should closely reflect that approval. Throughout production, every order undergoes a minimum of five quality control inspections, including playback checks on three different turntable systems, before shipment.
Changes requested after lacquer cutting or after a test pressing require new lacquer cutting and metalwork, will incur additional charges, and will extend the production timeline.
Test pressings are intended to confirm manufacturing quality—not to provide an additional creative revision stage. If a Client waives a test pressing, production will proceed using the previously approved digital master.
7. PRICING & PAYMENT
Full payment is required before production begins.
ACH is our preferred payment method.
We do not currently offer third-party financing.
Quoted pricing is valid only for the scope of work described in the order.
Additional services or changes requested after an order has been placed may require revised pricing.
8. NON-REFUNDABLE SERVICES
Once work has begun, the following services are non-refundable:
Audio preparation
Vinyl mastering
Lacquer cutting
Plating
Any custom work already completed
These processes involve labor, materials, and manufacturing steps that cannot be recovered or reused.
9. ARTWORK SUBMISSION & ORDER COMPLETION
Production cannot begin until all required materials have been submitted and approved.
If required materials have not been submitted within twelve (12) months of the original order date, the order may be considered abandoned.
If an order is deemed abandoned:
Administrative work already completed may be retained.
Any unused balance may be refunded at Object Permanence's discretion.
10. METALWORK & STAMPER STORAGE
Metalwork
Lacquer cutting and plating produce the metal parts required to manufacture your records.
Object Permanence determines the number of stampers required based on production quantity and manufacturing requirements.
Additional metalwork requested after production has been completed generally requires new lacquer cutting and plating and will be billed accordingly.
Stamper Storage
Object Permanence will retain usable stampers for approximately six (6) months following the most recent pressing, or until they have produced approximately 1,000 records, whichever comes first.
As the storage period approaches its end, we may contact the Client to discuss repress options while the existing metalwork is still available.
After the storage period or expected production life has been reached, Object Permanence may, at its discretion:
Recycle the stampers, or
Return them to the Client at the Client's expense.
Client-Held Stampers
Stampers that have been returned to or stored by a Client cannot be reused by Object Permanence.
Because storage conditions, handling, and shipping cannot be verified, we cannot guarantee their condition or manufacturing quality after they leave our custody.
11. SHIPPING
Orders ship after manufacturing and packaging have been completed.
Tracking information will be provided whenever available.
Risk of loss transfers to the Client once the shipment has been tendered to the shipping carrier.
Shipping insurance is included where available through the selected carrier and incorporated into applicable shipping costs.
Object Permanence is not responsible for shipping delays, loss, theft, or damage occurring after shipment.
If damage or loss occurs during transit, the Client is responsible for filing any claim with the shipping carrier. We will provide reasonable documentation to assist with the claims process.
12. RETURNS, DAMAGES & QUALITY ISSUES

For the highest level of consistency and sound quality, black vinyl is generally recommended.
14. ORDER ACCEPTANCE
Object Permanence reserves the right to accept or decline any order at its sole discretion.
If an order is declined before production begins, all payments will be refunded in full.
If production has already begun, completed work remains non-refundable.
We reserve the right to decline projects that include:
Hate speech
Material that unlawfully infringes intellectual property rights
Content that explicitly promotes or incites violence
Material we reasonably believe violates applicable law

Reasonable variations may occur between production runs, including but not limited to:

Minor cosmetic marks

Audio characteristics inherent to vinyl playback
These variations are considered normal manufacturing tolerances and do not constitute defects.
16. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Object Permanence's total liability for any claim arising from an order shall not exceed the amount paid by the Client for that order.
Under no circumstances shall Object Permanence be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or lost-profit damages.

Once production has started:
